HIP 82’s Implementation of Limits on Rewardable Data is Complete!
This last phase of HIP 82 has now been finished by core developers of the Helium ecosystem.
As a reminder, HIP 82 added Helium Mobile as a Service Provider onto the Helium Network.
It also included an option to implement limits on paid data transfer on Helium Mobile Hotspots (10GB for $5 plans and 40GB for the nationwide $20 plans). Hotspot owners can still provide service to Helium Mobile customers above these limits and choose not to get paid.
As of today, Hotspots owners have a choice to allow unrewarded data transfer but are opted-out by default. This is an option, and you will not be penalized for not participating.
