Helium HIP Voting Now Open for Mobile and IoT Networks

Summary
  • HIP 101 aims to standardize PoC rewards for Wi-Fi and CBRS hotspots in the Helium Mobile Network.
  • HIP 102 proposes introducing a LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) for educational use on the Helium IoT Network.
  • HIP 104 suggests modifying the rewards distribution system in the Helium IoT Network to improve network coverage, giving more rewards to rural areas.

@veIOT Voter @veMOBILE Voter @Community - It’s time to cast your vote for HIPs 101, 102, and 104!

MOBILE Network HIP 101

This HIP aims to standardize PoC rewards for Wi-Fi and CBRS Hotspots within the Helium Mobile Network. If this HIP passes, long-term PoC rewards will decrease for CBRS Hotspot deployers.

You can vote for HIP 101 now using the governance icon in the Helium Wallet App or click here: https://modular.heliumvote.com/mobile/proposals/4upQV5qpCXeqFNhbccdPZax7JR1AjxP684QiZCjMfg9W

IOT Network HIP 102

This proposal introduces a LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) for educational use on the Helium IOT Network. Its key feature is free data transfer for education and trials without rewards to Hotspots. This prevents network exploitation and offers a secure learning environment, preserving the integrity and economic model of the Helium Network.

IOT Network HIP 104

This proposal recommends modifying HIP 17 and changing how rewards are distributed on the IOT Network. The current system bases rewards on how many hotspots are in the area, but this has led to too many hotspots in cities and not enough in rural areas. This HIP proposes to give more rewards to rural areas and aims to improve the network coverage overall, making it more evenly spread out and not just focused in cities.

If passed, this will impact all hotspot owners, reducing rewards in crowded areas and possibly increasing them in less dense regions.

You can vote for HIP 104 now using the governance icon in the Helium Wallet App or click here: https://modular.heliumvote.com/iot/proposals/DQU9kg8NwJZoYiKwYX7PvKHAMBxUpcxajFiN3XeF3RvR

Remember, you can vote now if you own veMOBILE and veIOT tokens. If you don't already own veMOBILE or veIOT tokens, you can lock your tokens using the governance icon in the Helium Wallet App.

⏳Voting stays open for the next seven days. https://modular.heliumvote.com/
