HIP 88 Implementation Update
This is a reminder that HIP 88 passed with a 99.1% voting power.
As outlined in the proposal, HIP 88 aims to refine the Utility Score by accounting for the individual onboarding fee paid by each device, allowing individual networks to adjust their onboarding fees.
Prior to this change, the activation of HIP 89 addressed the lack of onboarding and assertion fees on the MOBILE network. There remained a backlog of devices not yet onboarded on the MOBILE network.
This phase of HIP 88's implementation allows for on-chain tracking of onboarding fees across all networks. While it doesn't lead to immediate changes in the utility score for MOBILE, this on-chain accounting will be verified and eventually used in the final phase of implementation. This data is crucial, as it will influence the $A$ factor in the subDAO utility score.
The execution was carried out seamlessly using the wallet with the address acthbQqa2SqDRrcnTDxqNda4w3hYaRQpw4ga2XnwzTd, resulting in the burning of $40 worth of DC from 3,555 active mobile hotspots. This wallet will continue to burn DC as MOBILE hotspots onboarded before July 12, 2023, come online.
