What is Session?
Over 1m people use Session for end-to-end encrypted, decentralized and fully anonymous messaging. Thanks to its robust metadata protection, onion routing and censorship-resistant DePIN, Session is a popular and user-friendly alternative to centralized messaging apps that are vulnerable to surveillance and censorship.
The launch of SESH will transform Session, unlocking new in-app utility including premium features and username trading, as well as creating a dynamic incentive layer for DePIN node operators and stakers. Increased usage of premium features by Session users generates more network fees. This in turn enables staking rewards and improved liquidity, directly benefiting the Session ecosystem.

How can I earn Session Tokens (SESH)?
Session runs on a decentralised, community-operated network of nodes called Session Nodes. These nodes provide the infrastructure required for a communication network: message sending, message storage, and message delivery.
In order to run a Session Node, the operator must stake SESH. This stake gives them some βskin in the gameβ, encouraging nodes to act in the best interest of the network, performing all their duties to their highest ability, and not sabotaging or attacking the network.
Session Messenger is software which uses this network to send and receive messages. Many of the operators running Session Nodes are also users themselves, of course, and all are active and engaged members of the community. Absolutely anyone can become an operator and contribute to the network infrastructure which Session runs on.
When operators provide services, such as storing Session messages for users, they earn SESH as rewards. These rewards are claimable anytime from the Session Staking Portal.
Session Token has not yet been generated.
How can I optimize my Session rewards?
Session allows operators to run multicontributor nodes, where they provide an initial stake and other contributors provide the rest to make up a full stake. Operators can charge a fee payable in SESH to account for the work and resources required to operate the node.
How can I use the Session Network?
By chatting with your friends on the Session messaging app, you're using the Session Network to securely store and route their messages. With end-to-end encryption, no phone number to sign up, metadata hardening, and decentralised infrastructure, Session allows users to send messages with privacy and security.
You can also run or contribute to a node to participate directly in the Session Network. In future, users will be able to unlock premium features and register tradable usernames by paying network fees to the Session Network.
Who governs this Session network?
The Session Network is permissionless and self-governing. Session Nodes observe and enforce expected good behaviour, such as storing messages and remaining online and contactable.
Nodes that behave poorly may be deregistered from the network, stopping node rewards and preventing locking staked tokens for a period of time.
