💫 About

What is this network?

Bittensor is an open-source protocol that powers a decentralized, blockchain-based machine learning network. It allows machine learning models to train collaboratively and rewards them in TAO tokens according to the informational value they offer the collective. The network is designed to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence by introducing an optimized training strategy in which models interact in an incentivized, iterative ecosystem, while also advancing a more equitable and collaborative approach to its ownership and access.

How can I mine tokens?

To mine tokens on Bittensor, you must first attain a UID slot within one of Bittensor's sub-networks via a competition, a step known as registration. Once registered, miners provide machine learning services by hosting and serving their locally hosted machine learning models. When a client application requires a prediction, it sends a request to the Bittensor network, which routes the request to a miner that has registered itself as a provider for the required service. The miner processes the request using its locally hosted machine learning model and returns the prediction back to the client via the Bittensor network.

Any geographical restrictions?

There are no geographical restrictions for participating in the Bittensor network. The protocol emphasizes the importance of ownership and access to AI technology, and aims to create a more equitable ecosystem by allowing anyone to participate and benefit from the network, regardless of their background or geographic location.

How can I optimize my mining rewards?

Bittensor promotes the interaction of high-value peers in the network, such that valuable nodes receive significantly higher earnings, and are more likely to stay registered. The Bittensor Protocol distributes rewards and network ownership to users in direct proportion to the value they have added, providing a fair and just system that incentivizes innovation and creativity.

How can I use the network?

There are three primary ways to interact with Bittensor:

  1. Those attempting to interact with the Bittensor Network to solve tasks.
  2. Individuals, researchers, and developers seeking to contribute value into Bittensor and get paid in mining rewards.
  3. TAO holders who are looking to govern Bittensor directly.

Who governs this network?

The Bittensor network is governed by TAO holders. The network is open to all participants, and no individual or group has full control over what is learned, who can profit from it, or who can access it.

Funding

Bittensor is a self-funded project. It does not offer rewards for crowdloan participation, indicating that it is self-funded and does not rely on external funding to operate.
