What is this network?

Pocket Network is an open protocol that provides developers with reliable, performant, and cost-effective RPC access to the open internet. The infrastructure is owned and governed by its users. How can I mine tokens?

In the Pocket Network, tokens are not mined in the traditional sense, but are earned through a process called staking. Node providers stake POKT tokens on a per-node basis. In exchange for servicing relays for applications, nodes are compensated in POKT. The rewards are directly proportional to the number of relays and transaction fees in a given block. A node receives a certain amount of POKT per relay fulfilled and proved, minus certain percentages for both the block producer and the DAO.

To maximize your chances of being chosen in as many sessions as possible, it is recommended to spread your stake across multiple nodes. This provides you with the most opportunity to serve relays within the network.

How can I optimize my mining rewards?

To optimize your mining rewards, you can follow several strategies:

1. Stake more POKT: The more POKT you stake, the higher your rewards. For example, a node that has 30,000 POKT staked would earn twice as many rewards for the same number of relays as a node that only has 15,000 POKT staked.

2. Ensure your node is configured correctly: If your node is not rewarding you with POKT, it may not be configured correctly. Checking your node status is one of the first steps towards maximizing your POKT earnings.

3. Minimize latency: The Pocket Portal filters out slow nodes to ensure the protocol is providing the best service possible to apps. Faster nodes earn more POKT. To minimize latency, locate your nodes where the users are located and minimize the distance between your Pocket Nodes and your blockchain data nodes.

4. Avoid being offline or jailed: If your node is offline or jailed, it may not earn rewards. Reasons for being offline or jailed include returning incorrect data, missing blocks, and the serviceURI not being publicly reachable.

How can I use the network?

You can use the Pocket Network by accessing its RPC. If you're already using a centralized RPC provider, the Pocket Portal will be a familiar interface. You can start at the Pocket Portal to get a public RPC URL for your wallet or create a private RPC URL for your DApp.
