💫 About
Purpose and Concept of the network
Roam transforms internet access with a decentralized network and OpenRoaming™, connecting you seamlessly to over 3.5 million OpenRoaming™ WiFi access points. It simplifies connectivity, enhances security, and rewards every connection via its proprietary DID solution. Roam permits the capture and utilization of rich user data (who, what, where) while promising the anonymity of decentralized IDs to permit data incentivization without compromising user identity. With the help of the Roam App users can establish seamless Open-Roaming connections between different networks, adhering to WBA standards. The network users can seamlessly switch between Roam WiFi hotspots and any of the other 3.5 million+ hotspots in WBA's OpenRoaming alliance. The project's advanced decentralized deployment model uses rewards-based incentivization to grow the Roam network.
Mining Tokens within the Network
Users can mine points within the Roam network by hosting a miner-router. These routers, also known as Roam Miners, provide access to Roam’s OpenRoaming WiFi network and issue Roam points as they establish connections for users. Users can perform various activities such as check-in, referrals, complete quests to mine Roam Points. These points will become burnable for $ROAM tokens after the TGE. There are two options to earn Roam Points by hosting a miner-router:
Deploying Roam Miner: These are specialized WiFi routers that also act as miners and provide a premium, publicly accessible, and OpenRoaming-integrated WiFi network to users. The routers also provide speeds up to 6000 mbps and enterprise grade security for all the users.
Deploying Community Node: Users can deploy their own router’s to the Roam Network via the Roam APp. Mining yields depend on your WiFi network’s strength, as well as how frequently it establishes new connections for users. However, the mining rewards for a community node will always be lower than a Roam Miner.
Strategies to Optimize Mining Rewards
To optimize mining rewards, users can strategically place their Roam miners in high-traffic areas. Since the miners issue points as they establish WiFi connections, the more connections they establish, the more points they issue. Therefore, the busiest locations for WiFi connections are the most lucrative ones to host a Roam miner. Some suggested locations include busy public spaces, public buildings, malls, movie theaters, airports, coffee shops etc.
Use of the Network for Various Purposes
In addition to mining opportunities, Roam offers businesses hosting the router-miners powerful solutions for boosting traffic and retaining customers. For instance, businesses can offer better WiFi access to their customers, attracting more visitors and retaining existing ones. Business hosts are also able to present users with custom WiFi landing pages that can be presented periodically, providing them with an extra promotional channel.
Governing Entities or Organizations
The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), which hosts the Wireless Global Congress, is an association of wireless networking and telecom companies dedicated to addressing issues and opportunities related to new WiFi technologies. WBA's key programs include interoperability, policy and regulatory affairs, 5G, IoT, and next-generation WiFi standards that will enable the creation of one global Open-Roaming network.
