π« About
What is this network?
The network in question is the WeatherFlow ProNet, a network of high-quality, industrial-grade weather stations. WeatherFlow owns and operates the largest professional mesoscale observing network (mesonet) in the United States, including the nationβs only mesonet focused on the highly variable coastal zone. With over 400 stations reporting as frequently as every minute, this network provides an unparalleled ability to monitor and archive real-time wind and weather conditions along the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf, and Great Lakes.
How can I use the network?
To use the WeatherFlow network, you can purchase a Tempest Weather Station and connect it to the network. Once connected, your station will contribute data to the network. You can access your weather data by signing in to the Tempest Web App at tempestwx.com, then going to Settings β Data Authorizations β Create Token, then copy that token. You can use this token with REST requests and WebSocket connections to access your data.
Who governs this network?
The WeatherFlow network is governed by WeatherFlow-Tempest, Inc., a technology company reshaping the private sector weather industry. The company's mission is to help the world better understand and manage the enormous impact of weather. They deliver more accurate weather information, leveraging a growing proprietary dataset and industry-leading AI-driven modeling.
Funding
WeatherFlow-Tempest, Inc. has been funded through various investment rounds. They have also offered investment opportunities to the public through platforms like StartEngine, where investors can purchase shares in the company. In addition to the funds raised from these investments, the company generates revenue from its weather data and decision support services.
